Small Gardens

Mediterranean Garden High Barnet

The owner of this garden wanted to update the planting with a Mediterranean theme which would fit with the style of her house and some existing established shrubs and trees. We thinned out and rearranged the existing shrubs to make room for new perennial planting and created a completely new planting scheme for the island bed at the centre of the garden.

Sunken Garden Finchley

Following an extensive renovation of this house and terrace, the existing, overgrown garden, was in need of an update. The lower garden is mainly viewed from above so we created a calming view by employing a simple design, based upon circles. This was complemented with a limited pallet of shade loving plants, repeated throughout the space. The paving slabs, stone setts and natural stone bricks for the bench are all Kandala Grey Sandstone. The new fence will fade to a grey colour over time and the shrubs and climbers will also grow up to soften it. The upper terrace is in full sun and planted with a mixture of blue and white Mediterranean plants, with two potted Olive trees.

Tropical Garden London Fields

Following the construction of a modern extension and covered sunken seating area we were asked to create a garden to link the two buildings. A path of irregular slate stepping stones is surrounded on either side by lush tropical style planting. Large troughs on the balcony area create a privacy screen for the bathroom and bedroom.

Jungle Garden London Fields

This small city garden in London Fields had fallen into disrepair. We complemented the existing Bamboos by planting Tree ferns, Palms and hardy perennials with a jungle feel. The existing hard landscaping elements were repaired or replaced and a new secluded seating area was created at the rear end of the garden.
